about

Uruwhenua is a collection of analogue explorations and improvisations recorded on a Vestafire 4-track cassette machine over an 18-month period circa 1997. Finally digitized 24 years later, then arranged, processed, and mixed in Reaper. All tracks were mastered in iZotope Ozone.

I set myself the limitation of not using any exogenous sound (i.e. not adding anything that wasn't originally recorded on tape), but consider digital effects processing and noise gates to be fine since to a large extent they could have been generated using analogue hardware in a 1997 studio.

Instruments: Jansen Corsair 6-string guitar, vintage Jansen tube amplifier, Boss digital delay, Casiotone MT-240, RAT distortion pedal, turntable, Ensoniq Mirage sampler, various cheap percussion instruments
