Single microphone recordings of more or less structurally freeform guitar explorations played through a vintage tube amplifier and FX pedals.

Cusp of the Azoic was recorded as a single track, but split into five sections owing to Bandcamp's 291MB upload limit on WAV files.

Sonophyla is the umbrella name for all audio recordings made by Stìobhan Lothian and the odd collaborator.
'Sono' refers to sound, while 'phyla' - taken from biology - refers to "Organisms (that) share a set of characteristics distinguishing them from organisms in another phylum." In this context, musical styles that span a range of genres, unlike the vast majority of genre-specific labels.
